Boudreaux’s
mama loves to cook. She bakes such delightful treats for her human
children, and Boudreaux patiently waits on the rug in the kitchen
for something to fall from mama’s culinary adventures.
Alas,
two years went by and nothing for a doggie to feel good about. Sure,
there was plenty of cookie dough and such, but nothing for a proud
Cajun dog to brag about. Then one day, Boudreaux’s mama saw
the light!
Did Boudreaux
smell chicken gumbo? Oh, mais oui, cher! Mama was making chicken
gumbo bones. Boudreaux was in heaven. It just got better and better.
Peanut
butter cookies for the kids inspired peanut butter pirogues (our
boy was rewarded for straight A’s with a new pirogue).
Cheesy
Garlic Vacheries were inspired by a recipe for Cheese Straws in
River Roads cookbook.
And of
course, plain cheese for Parrain’s dog who can’t have
garlic. Now Boudreaux knows mama really loves dogs, for she feeds
the whole neighborhood. Our girl delivers Bonz on her scooter and
knows every dog around. Ya’ll won’t believe how good
they are until you try them. |
